Assam Floods: Worst In 6 Decades, Over 7 Lakh People Affected | Jorhat | Sivasagar Assam is battling its worst floods in six decades. At least 68 people have died and around 40 remain missing while over 7 lakh people are affected across the state. Sivasagar is the worst-hit district with nearly 3.5 lakh people displaced. Heavy rains from mid-July caused rivers to rise rapidly, submerging villages, destroying crops and creating widespread chaos.
