Soda Can Hornet Lure: DIY Alu Stamp Spoon Lure Result

If you want to learn how to make a fishing lure from scratch, building your own stamping tools is the first step. In this lure making project, I melt down old soda cans to cast a solid aluminum punch. The matching die is crafted from recycled plastic caps, creating a completely custom pressing system. I use a copper tube prototype and casting sand to perfectly mold the aluminum stamp before pouring. Once the tools are ready, I press out a handmade fishing lure from a raw brass sheet. Building custom fishing lures allows for intricate details, so I applied a photoresist film to the brass. Using an acid etching process, I burned a detailed hornet wing pattern directly into the metal. Finally, this unique fishing lure gets a custom paint job to highlight the etched textures.
