Ahead of the "June Hakataza Grand Kabuki" (June 2-22) at the Hakataza Theatre in Fukuoka City, the traditional "boat procession" to announce the arrival of the actors took place on May 30th on the Hakata River in the city. Approximately 130 actors and related personnel, including the father-son duo Onoe Kikugoro VIII and Kikunosuke VI, who will be simultaneously taking their names, as well as Ichikawa Danjuro, boarded 11 boats and paraded along the water for about 800 meters to the sounds of shamisen, flutes, and drums, with confetti fluttering in the air. The approximately 35,000 spectators who gathered called out "Otowaya" and "VIII." At the ceremony after disembarking, Kikugoro said, "While facing the pressure of the great name Kikugoro, I want to do my best to convey the charm of Kabuki." Following this, a celebratory banner designed by popular manga artist Hirohiko Araki for the succession ceremony was also unveiled.
