Mechanism of Action of Viagra: Naturally a male released nitric oxide in the corpus cavernosum of the penis during sexual stimulation. What happens is the nitric oxide (NO) activates an enzyme called guanylate cyclase which leads to the increase in the levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). This leads to producing smooth muscle relaxation of the corpus cavernosum and causing an increase of inflow of blood to this region of the penis. Naturally phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE-5) breaks down cGMP in the corpus cavernosum. Viagra is a PDE-5 inhibitor. As a result, Viagra works by allowing cGMP to be around longer by reducing the level of degradation leading to better blood flow to the penis. #hawkshealth #viagra
