Joshua 's Story: Raising Hope

For much of his childhood, Joshua moved back and forth between his mother and father. As he grew older, he found himself in trouble with the law and eventually chose a life on the streets, spending 11 years homeless and believing he had few options left. During that time, Joshua met the love of his life, Kelsey. Together, they built a family, but addiction continued to shape their lives. Joshua recalls feeling trapped in a cycle that seemed impossible to break. Everything began to change after the birth of their second child. Determined to create a different future for their family, Kelsey made the courageous decision to pursue recovery. She and their children were accepted into Open House Ministries, while Joshua entered inpatient treatment. He describes those 30 days as some of the hardest of his life, but also the beginning of a lasting transformation. After graduating from treatment, Joshua joined his family at Open House Ministries. Over the next 13 months, they worked hard to rebuild their lives, strengthen their family, and create a foundation for the future. Today, Joshua is employed, living with purpose, and helping provide for his family. What makes his story even more remarkable is that his mother also went through the Open House Ministries program years earlier. Joshua says Open House Ministries helped break the chain of homelessness in his family. This is a story of perseverance, recovery, family, and hope. A reminder that lasting change is possible.
