ESSAI COMPLET, FAIRTILL LE BIOCULTEUR DE PUBERT, POUR ÉMIETTER, AÉRER, DÉSHERBER, DÉCOMPACTER LE SOL
As part of the innovative equipment testing regularly offered by NewsJardinTV, our editor-in-chief, Patrick Mioulane, has chosen to present a brand new, unique machine, focusing on technical and practical plant cultivation: the Fertill Bioculteur, designed and manufactured in France by Pubert. Ets Henri Pubert is a family-owned company in Vendée whose history dates back to 1840. Originally a manufacturer of agricultural plows, the company began developing gardening accessories in 1960 and produced its first tiller in 1976. In 2009, Pubert created the first battery-powered electric tiller and the first variable-speed tiller in 2012. Today, the company has become a world leader in the design and manufacture of machines for soil and garden maintenance. 60% of its production is exported to 40 countries. The Fertill Biocultivator is a portable, battery-powered electric cultivator inspired by both rotary cultivators and "grelinette" aerating forks that cultivates the soil respectfully, without turning it over. It is compatible with the principles of permaculture. The Fairtill Biocultivator took six years to design and develop, and underwent hundreds of hours of testing in partnership with landscaping professionals before its launch. The working part consists of two cultivators that rotate in opposite directions (patented system of two counter-rotating helical cultivators). They are powered by two electric motors powered by a 40V (2 Ah) lithium-ion battery that provides one hour of continuous operation. The Fairtill Biocultivator features very high torque due to the reduction of the nominal rotation speed (6,000 rpm) to 70 rpm, ensuring efficiency in difficult soils. Furthermore, the slow rotation of the claws allows for precise work while respecting precious soil life (especially earthworms). The machine can work anywhere thanks to its short working width of 12 cm. Work is effortless because the user maintains a vertical position at all times thanks to the ergonomic handle, which can be adjusted to suit individual height. This is an important point for professionals, as the device significantly reduces the risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), conditions that affect the joints, muscles, and tendons. Weighing only 6 kg (including its battery), the Fairtill Biocultivator allows precise movements to be performed in complete safety. After all these technical explanations, Patrick gets down to business and demonstrates how the Fairtill Biocultivator breaks up soil, decompacts, aerates, and loosens the soil without turning it over. The claws break up aggregates while preserving the soil structure, without creating a subsoil base. Using the device with vertical back-and-forth movements, you can work between 2 and 15 cm deep without disturbing the soil structure. This is more than enough for most garden crops. The loosening and crumbling work performed by the claws promotes the availability of water, air, and nutrients for plant roots. Using the Fairtill Biocultivator replaces hoeing and weeding; the counter-rotating rotation uproots weeds and brings them to the surface where they will dry out. Patrick demonstrates that the Fairtill Biocultivator can also be used in hard soils and effectively removes crust from compacted soil. Faster, more efficient, and above all, more comfortable to use than a spade, a claw, or a broadfork, the Fairtill Biocultivator is designed for all categories of professional and amateur gardeners for creating vegetable beds or preparing flowerbeds, and for maintaining and weeding the entire garden.
