NHC June 2026 Lunch & Learn: The Path to Homeownership - Programs, Resources & Market Insights

June is National Homeownership Month, and we celebrated by highlighting the programs and resources helping more Nevadans achieve the dream of homeownership. This informative Lunch & Learn featured experts from Nevada Rural Housing, the Nevada Housing Division, and the mortgage lending industry. Katie Coleman, Christopher Mora, and Kevin Hickey from Nevada Rural Housing spoke about their Home at Last, Rural Rocks, and Launchpad programs along with myths many first-time homebuyers believe. Josie Hatem from the Nevada Housing Division provided an overview of the Division’s homeownership programs, including Home Is Possible, and other resources designed to support first-time and repeat homebuyers. The session also featured a market update and lender perspective from Jorge Montoya of Guild Mortgage, who discussed current homeownership trends, challenges facing prospective buyers, and what he's seeing in Nevada's housing market today.
