The Midstate Mile: Where Heart Gets Tested

I came to the Midstate Mile believing I understood what it meant to have heart. I had trained for months. I had prepared physically, mentally, and emotionally for one of the toughest backyard ultra-style races I've ever attempted. But over the course of this race, I realized something I wasn't expecting... Heart isn't something you claim before the race begins. It's something you prove when every part of you wants to quit. This documentary follows my journey through the Midstate Mile while also telling the stories of incredible runners who showed me what real grit, perseverance, and resilience actually look like. Some fought through exhaustion. Some battled pain. Some simply refused to stop showing up one lap at a time. Their examples forced me to confront an uncomfortable question: *Do I really have the kind of heart I thought I did?* This isn't just a race recap. It's a story about endurance, humility, failure, perseverance, and the people who inspired me to redefine what "heart" truly means. If you've ever chased a difficult goal, questioned yourself, or wondered what you're capable of when life gets hard, I hope this story encourages you to keep showing up. Because sometimes the greatest victory isn't finishing the race... It's discovering who you're becoming along the way.
