River patrol boats - compilation of genuine Vietnam War color footage
Music by Jefferson Airplane and The Surfaris. The US Brown Water Navy patrolled the rivers during the Vietnam War. It mostly consisted of PBRs (“patrol boat, river”): fast, agile, shallow-draft, fiberglass, jet propelled. The Americans also used larger PCFs (‘patrol craft, fast’) aka ‘swift boats’; “ASPBs (‘assault support patrol boat’); and armored troop carriers a.k.a ‘Tango boats’.
