Exploring Bull Canyon | A Backroad Journey to Paradox Valley

This quiet drive follows a remote network of backroads from Dry Creek Basin through Bull Canyon and into Paradox Valley in western Colorado. The journey begins where Dry Creek Basin leaves off, transitioning from open sagebrush country into cedar-covered hills before descending into the steep walls of Bull Canyon. Following County Roads 13Z, AA13, GG16, and FF16, the route winds through red rock formations, canyon bottoms, and rugged terrain shaped by the Dolores River. Along the way, the drive passes the historic Bachelor Mine, once part of the Uravan Mineral Belt and the region's vanadium and uranium mining history. As the canyon opens, the road climbs from the canyon floor and reconnects with DD19 Road before descending into Paradox Valley and ending at CO Highway 90. This route requires a high-clearance 4x4 vehicle and should not be attempted during wet conditions. Steep grades, rocky terrain, and remote conditions can make travel difficult, especially during and after rain. A few brief sections of this drive are missing due to camera overheating during recording. The route remains complete and follows the original journey through Bull Canyon.
