This test shows whether you can really save money and reduce energy costs with a water-bearing wood-burning stove! My water-bearing wood-burning stove is the Spartherm Ambiente A4 H2O. H2O stands for water-bearing. This means that the stove has a water jacket in the flue area, which heats the water. As soon as the stove is lit and the water in the heat exchanger reaches a set target temperature, the circulation pump starts and the hot water is directed to the storage tanks. The fresh water tank – also called the hygienic tank – always has priority. This means that the water is heated first in the hot water tank, and once the temperature is reached there, a three-way valve switches to the storage tank for the underfloor heating. In this explanatory video, I'll show you how efficient my wood-burning stove really is! To do this, I first check the temperature in the hot water tank and then start the stove. The water tank has a volume of 1000 liters. Since the temperature sensor for the wood-burning stove is located in the upper third, approximately 400 liters of water are heated.
