WandaVision, One Year On: A Retrospective
Marvel's first MCU Disney+ series, WandaVision, premiered just over 1 year ago today - and this is my (slightly belated!) anniversary retrospective. The series saw Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany's Vision navigate a distorted reality, seemingly constructed entirely from a pastiche of classic sitcoms. Funny, emotional, and at times experimental, WandaVision became a phenomenon as it aired, with hundreds of thousands of viewers across the globe waiting on tenterhooks each week for the next episode and the revelations it would surely bring. However, since the episodes dropped, criticism of the show and its narrative has increased - particularly the finale, which sees Olsen's Wanda finally become the Scarlet Witch. This video sees me evaluate both the series itself and common criticisms thereof - and conclude that, one year on, the series has stood the test of time. As their surroundings begin to move through different decades and they encounter various television tropes, the couple suspects that things are not as they seem. The show's supporting cast includes characters such as Kathryn Hahn's Agnes / Agatha Harkness. #marvel #wandavision #mcu
