Though its hard to find Garhwali food at Gangotri Dham but we found a restaurant who prepared it for us, we enjoyed the taste of Rajma that are grown on hills and a very unique Tor Dal…. Following are the details of the places visited by us during this tour. Surya Kund: Best time to visit this place is early morning. All the places to visit at Gangotri Dham are near each other only , ie at walking distance of each other. We wanted to have food of Himalaya, so we got Super tasty Rajma and Tor dal at this place along with khanda rice. In the next episode you will see Gaumukh yatra which is 18 km from Gangotri one side. Before starting the Gaumukh Yatra one has to take permit from the forest department of Gangotri. Office timing of forest department 7 am - 10 am Morning 5 pm - 7 pm Evening. You have to apply for the permit online and once you reach Uttarkashi or Gangotri you need to confirm the day of travel with forest department. I wil suggest you do this from Uttarakashi because there is a limit on number of people who can go to Gaumukh in a day. Limit is 150 per day.
