Algiers Point is a quaint neighborhood in New Orleans that is located across the Mississippi River from the French Quarter. The area has a rich history, and dates back to the early years of New Orleans. The houses and businesses have architectural styles similar to other parts of New Orleans, such as Uptown, Garden District, Mid-City, and Bywater. There are charming restaurants and bars dotted throughout the neighborhood. And Algiers Point is located where the Mississippi River river curves, the ‘Crescent’ of the nickname for New Orleans, the Crescent City. The views from the levee look directly at French Quarter. The Algiers ferry loads at Algiers Point and takes you across the Mississippi River to the foot of the French Quarter at the Audubon Zoo Aquarium. Algiers Point is a great place to visit. And if you’re from out of town, it is a nice diversion from touring the busy French Quarter.
