Villagers, mostly from tribal communities, staged a protest opposing the acquisition drive being carried out day and night by authorities. According to locals, they will not give up even an inch of their land and are ready to sacrifice their lives to protect their settlement. Hundreds of villagers, along with their families, including children, have joined the sit-in protest at the site, bringing work in the area to a halt. The land acquisition process is part of a larger plan involving around 1200 acres of land. While work continues in other nearby areas, the protest at Barakani has forced a temporary stoppage at the site, with police deployed to maintain order. District administration and state government authorities are reportedly preparing further steps to continue the project, even as villagers vow to continue their resistance.
