Willy Knupp, who later became RTL Formula 1 commentator, was already a sports presenter in the 1980s, the early years of the private broadcaster RTL, at that time still as a regional broadcaster for RTLplus. Programs were broadcast from Luxembourg City via antenna. This first private broadcaster could be seen in the German-speaking region, throughout Luxembourg, in large parts of Rhineland-Palatinate and in Saarland. We show you a piece of television history with the preview of the 1984 ADAC/RTT hill climb in Trier.
