Márcia Montenegro holds a law degree from the Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA) and postgraduate degrees in Civil Procedural Law, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedural Law, and Higher Education Teaching. She has a master's degree in Legal and Political Sciences from the Portucalense University in Portugal. She has worked as a lawyer and university professor, teaching various Public Law subjects in undergraduate and postgraduate courses. As a ministerial analyst, she currently serves as a legal advisor to the Attorney General's Office of Maranhão. She is a member of the Literary Academy of Maranhão (ALMA), the Maranhão Academy of Children's and Youth Literature, and the Maranhão Academy of Sciences and Fine Arts. In the artistic field, Márcia Montenegro works as a writer, singer, composer, dancer, and storyteller. She is the author of the novel A Rosa Silvestre (3rd edition), launched at the Rio de Janeiro Biennial in 2018, and the non-fiction work Instituto Farina: 50 anos de sólido educação cristão. She is also the author of the following children's and young adult books: O valor de cada um, De todas as formas, Cirandas das Letras, Curumim e o segredo de Hutukara, Pitoco, Amji e a voz de Hutulara, O gato sem botas and A coroa de Laurinha (1st edition). She also composed and performs all the songs that are part of the work Ciranda das Letras, which she authored.
