Snoopy The Musical

I’ve had many wonderful solo opportunities over the course of my over 50 years (gulp) in the entertainment business ,but one stands out as my personal favorite. Nothing can beat the thrill of getting to play the part of an iconic character from a cartoon strip that I loved (was infatuated with actually) as a child. I first discovered this strip in the waiting area of my piano teacher when I was 8 years old. She had "Peanuts" paperbacks on a small table. I picked one up and was mesmerized by the incredible genius of Mr. Charles Schultz. From that moment on, I had to have EVERYTHING Peanuts. Pajamas, coloring books, sleeping bag, pillows, dolls. I could read his books for hours, over and over. And don't get me started on my love of the Great Pumpkin! So when I auditioned and then was offered the role of Snoopy in the animated version of the stage play "Snoopy The Musical", I was ecstatic. It premiered on this day in 1988. Other projects as Snoopy would follow over the course of the next couple of years. Having been able to work for an extended period of time with Lee Mendelson, the man responsible for getting "It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas" on the air, was a career high; a thrilling experience all the way around. I thought I had died and gone to doggy heaven...
