Jeffrey Foskett – “Don’t Worry Baby” (Japan Vivid/New Surf) 2019

Written by Brian Wilson and Roger Christian. Produced by Jeffrey Foskett, Jeff Larson and Kaz Sakamoto. From the album, “Vintage Summer” Jeffrey, who passed in December 2023, spent many years with both Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys, as led by Mike Love. But he also made a number of top-notch recordings in his own right. “Don’t Worry Baby” was released on 45 by the Beach Boys in 1964 as the b-side of “I Get Around” and reached #24 on the Hot-100 in its own right. It had earlier been featured as a track on their album, “Shut Down – Vol 2”. The song was later revived by the Tokens (1970, #95) and B.J. Thomas (1977, #17). His comments on this album read: “This set of songs I am calling “Vintage Summer” is technically my first archive project. It consists of various cover recordings of Beach Boys and related artists from around 1990-1991. Enough time has passed to look back at these with fondness and joy. Time moves so fast and this era of my career seems almost like a dream – a good dream. I hope you enjoy this look back into a “Vintage Summer”.
