Prayer Call at Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi

http://www.HipKey.TV My very first morning here I heard the Muslim call to prayer with the singing of the Mosque. For those of you who may not be aware of this, it is a song sang in Arabic broadcasted on LOUD speakers throughout the city calling the Muslims to pray. This is done 6 times a day. Hearing it for the first time at 5 a.m. echoing thru the entire city sent chills thru my body. I felt it was eerie and somewhat scary at the same time. However, in time I grew to find myself pausing and listening for it as I realized I would only get to hear it for a limited time in my life. Come to find out, a live person sings it each time at each mosque. Mosques are everywhere...they need to be walking distance from where people work and live so they can go there to pray 6 times a day . Now that is a lot of people working toward one goal together! No wonder they are doing so well financially! They are praying 6 times a day! This video clip is taken at the "Grand Mosque" where over 40,000 Muslims can pray at one time. The architecture made it look like they created heaven on earth. Made of complete marble, mother of pearl, etc. It cost an estimated 2.2 Billion dollars 12 years ago, and they are constantly working on it. Many will be praying outside in the direct heat of the sun and when it gets to 120 degrees, now that is HOT! However, they thought ahead and made the white floors with a cooling system underneath to keep the Muslims somewhat cool when praying outside. Gotta admire their concept to create something so amazing no matter the cost!
