Commentary "So we just watched about 15 minutes of promos from DIRECTV pay-per-view during a countdown clock in 2003. I'm going to give you a little background on what we just watched . DIRECTV devoted specific channels to pay-per-view showings of movies, sports and specials. Once a customer bought a particular title, the channel was unlocked and they could watch it for 24 or 48 hours. What you saw in this video is what ran between those pay-per-view showings. DIRECTV ran promos that they referred to as previews along with a countdown clock in the lower right corner. The style and look changed slightly over the years, and there was some co-branding with Blockbuster for a while, but the basic format you saw on this video remained the same. I presented the full 15 minutes because none of the promos repeated and I wanted you to get the full experience. These promos gave you a really good idea of what DirecTV pay-per-view was like in 2003. The movies they offered, the sports selections including wrestling and boxing, there were promos for concerts like Prince and we even saw a promo for one of the adult channels the Playboy Channel. So this promo roll from DIRECTV really does a good job of illustrating what that service was like in 2003. Those are my comments for this video.
