If Only We Will - London School of Architecture Degree Show 2026

If Only We Will’ is an investigation into London as a testbed: a city with a legacy of change and adaptation. One key example of this legacy of rebuilding is Patrick Abercrombie’s Greater London Plan, which demonstrated how a resilient city can rebuild after a war through an orchestra of networks and systems. Over 80 years later, we re-explore the ideas of the plan. Independently organised but united by a single question, our exhibition asks: ‘How can our built environment embed change and agency?’ The key themes of Abercrombie’s original plan were: population growth, housing, employment and industry, recreation, transport. We now seek to re-explore and recontextualise these themes for the modern day. While Abercrombie envisioned rebuilding as a network of petri dishes, our investigation views London as a series of interwoven conversations. Proposing new opportunities, our categories are: FLUX (Population): The city’s need to accommodate change. SHELTER (Housing): The city’s need to provide shelter. PRODUCTION (Industry): The city’s need to produce. AWE (Recreation): The city’s need for wonder and recreation. MOVEMENT (Transport): The city’s need for movement. Rather than viewing our individual projects as isolated entities, our collective proposition acts as a panorama. Defined as a wide-angle, unbroken view of a physical space, or a comprehensive survey of a subject, we invite you to explore our investigations through the lens of the Kaiserpanorama. LSA organised this special guided tour for Hackney Society members on June 21st 2026 More details here https://www.the-lsa.org/if-only-we-wi... #architecture #hackney #education #buildings #housing #transport
