When Lotus stopped building the Elan, Ford-Lotus Twin Cam specialists Vegantune attempted to emulate Caterham in building a revised continuation of Colin Chapman's greatest. Launched in 1982, this new car saw limited success as the M100 Lotus Elan and Mazda MX-5 stole the limelight, and the Evante is now largely forgotten.
