Wernher von Braun — Del Tercer Reich a la conquista de la Luna

Wernher von Braun was one of the most brilliant and, at the same time, most controversial men of the twentieth century. His name is forever linked to two realities that are difficult to reconcile: he was the architect of the Saturn V rocket, the machine that took humankind to the Moon, and also the technical director of the program that developed the V-2 rocket for the Third Reich. In this biographical documentary, we trace his entire life, from the mischievous boy who set a Berlin street ablaze with a cart loaded with fireworks to the admired engineer who made the most ambitious dream of the space race a reality. Throughout this work, we rigorously and objectively explore the most luminous and the most difficult episodes of his career. His aristocratic childhood in Imperial Prussia, the telescope with which his mother awakened his passion for the cosmos, his years as a mediocre student transformed by reading Hermann Oberth. His entry into the German army's rocket program, the creation of the Peenemünde center, and the first human-made object to touch space. We also address, without embellishment or precondemnation, the darkest chapters: his party affiliation, his rank in the SS, the forced labor in the underground Mittelwerk factory, and the various interpretations offered by historians and survivors regarding the degree of his responsibility. The story continues with his arrest by the Gestapo, his calculated surrender to American forces at the end of the war, the years of waiting as a consultant in the Texas desert, and his rebirth in Huntsville, Alabama. From there, after the Sputnik impact, his team launched the first American satellite and, later, built the gigantic rocket that would fulfill the promise of reaching the Moon. A complete account of the genius, ambition, moral blindness, and extraordinary ability of a man whom history has never managed to reduce to a single color. This video has been conceived as educational and historical outreach material, intended for an adult audience interested in twentieth-century history, the conquest of space, and the great figures who made it possible. Controversial moments are presented in a balanced way, always acknowledging that different versions and interpretations exist.
