We examine how this narrative travelled into exile, where distance, trauma, and disassociation from the Islamic Republic transformed “Persia” into a refuge, an idealized identity stripped of contradiction. Drawing on history, political theory, and psychology, this video unpacks how nations are imagined, how in-group superiority forms, and why diaspora identities often harden into myth. From Benedict Anderson’s concept of imagined communities to social identity theory and in-group favouritism, we explore how pride can quietly become exclusion. Iran is not a relic.
