Babylon 5 : Episode 99 : Jul 12 2026
Trivial Debates – Babylon 5 (Episode 99) The great galactic experiment of Babylon 5 was built for one purpose: to find peace through dialogue, no matter how heated. Tonight, we continue that tradition. Three new ambassadors step onto the debate floor to parse the legacy, lore, and legend of the station itself. Will their words forge a new alliance of brilliant takes, or trigger a sector-wide flame war in the comments? This Month’s Questions: Movies: Which is the best Babylon 5 movie; and why does it best represent the spirit and legacy of the series? Contestants can choose from titles like “In the Beginning,” “Thirdspace,” “The River of Souls,” “A Call to Arms,” or “The Legend of the Rangers.” TV: If you had to introduce a newcomer to Babylon 5 with just one episode, which would you choose; and why is it the perfect gateway? Music: If you had to assign one real-world song as the personal theme for a Babylon 5 character, which song would you choose and for whom? Sports: Based on the few sports references in Babylon 5; like boxing, baseball, and Minbari martial arts; which character would be the most formidable athlete in a competitive league? Contestants can draw from Garibaldi’s love of baseball, Sheridan’s boxing match in “The Rules of the Game,” or Lennier’s training in Anla’shok combat disciplines. History: Which moment in Earth’s in-universe history; pre-, during, or post-Babylon 5; had the most profound impact on the galaxy, and why? Contestants can choose from events like the Earth-Minbari War, the rise of President Clark, the Interstellar Alliance’s formation, or even the Telepath War. Wild Card: If you could swap one Babylon 5 character into any other sci-fi franchise (Star Trek, Star Wars, etc.), who would it be and where would they thrive? This Month’s Contestants: Jeff Akin – This pro wrestling TV broadcaster turned executive leader is a 20-year veteran who has served in both public and private sectors. Trained in the art of the promo and the boardroom, he’s a Ranger of potential, specializing in helping others wield their inner strength. He enters the debate arena with the focus of an Anla'shok, ready to get his hands dirty for a worthy cause. Fintan Monaghan – Fintan is the guy behind the Phintasmo youtube channel where he does deep dives into Babylon 5, Star Trek, and more. / @phintasmo Jim “Caz” Noland - a videographer from Indiana, creating content for fun and enjoyment. A fan of sci-fi and fantasy, with favorites like Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, and The Expanse. He’s also a gamer and aims to share his perspective on life with the simple rule: “Don’t be an asshole, and life can be good.” Episode Host: Dave Mader – Our commander for the evening, ready to maintain order and guide our panel through a night of diplomatic (and not-so-diplomatic) debates. Host of Live Long & Podcast and Super Mader Bros, and producer behind The United Federation of Podcasts. The Council is in session! It’s time for Trivial Debates!
