Living on India - Bhutan border / crossing borders for coffee :)
music - dream time ( Boulevard X-Audi/Jamendo ) what living on the borders feels like, the nearest city from us is in Bhutan, so for groceries, coffee or cafes we go there for a day trip. day trip doesn't require visa, you need to have a valid voter ID to enter. for the first time visitors, they do a biometric and enroll the ID's more than aadhar card, it is the voter ID's they consider authentic. We left at 8:00 am, the entry is through Jaigaon, a small town in West Bengal, first the Indian authorities do a check then as we already had the biometrics done, we just showed the QR for our vehicle which we got from the official website and entered Phuentsholing in Bhutan. We wanted to have breakfast at cafe Kizom, so went there first, had nice coffee, and then went straight to grocery shopping at Tashi shopping complex, they have everything from breads to Korean products, fruits and veggies, as it was a Sunday, the town had farmers market, they had plants, local produce like box chop, cheese - churpi, asparagus, ferns, fishes, locally made sauces. I personally like going to farmers market as everything is so fresh, and it's directly bought from the farmers. next we saw a home essentials shop which had pretty nice mugs and items that we needed for our kitchen, I bought two mugs from there. By this time we were hungry so went to mountain cafe and had lunch there. they serve local cuisine, we had Datshi, Puta and red rice, its boiled potato with cheese and buckwheat noodles. The food was flavorful yet simple. Bhutan is such a vibe when it comes to architecture. there's a small temple nearby the market and it is so charming with a garden outside it. the birds are singing, there's no honking, mountains can be seen. Bhutan follows strict traffic rules, no honks, driving in single lane. Petrol is comparatively cheaper here, so we get a refill every time we visit. living on the country's edge gives a surreal experience to also explore life in another country, soon will go for more than a day and explore more places in Bhutan.
