1986 Oklahoma vs Penn State

This is the 1/1/1986 Oklahoma vs Penn State game. The Orange Bowl. Penn State was #1 and Oklahoma #3. It was the last time a conference affiliation really would benefit a school that won a national title. Oklahoma was locked into the game by the Orange Bowl's contract to accept the Big Eight Champ. Otherwise #2 Miami, a local team, probably would have been invited. Miami did oblige Oklahoma by losing their Bowl game which opened the door for a Sooners National Championship. It wasn't until the next year when two independents met as 1 vs 2 that the Major Bowl dominance with conference affiliation was broken. I claim no rights.
