القصيدة التي زلزلت الخلافة العباسية! رثاء ليلى الشيبانية لأخيها (أداء باكٍ بدون موسيقى)

Can a single grave atop a majestic mountain hold the glory of all history? And how can the trees of the Khabur River shed their green leaves as the master of knights and ally of dew departs? In this unique video, we present an immersive literary and auditory experience that takes you deep into the Abbasid era, where the poet and warrior Layla bint Tarif al-Shaybani (Fari’a al-Shaybani) composes the greatest elegy in the history of Arabic literature. We accompany you with a melodious and poignant vocal performance, devoid of music, allowing you to experience the majesty of the words and the power of the eloquence as they were recited in the tents of the Banu Shayban. This poem is a powerful and moving response to the killing of her brother, al-Walid ibn Tarif al-Shaybani, the rebel of the Jazira region, at the hands of his cousin, the Abbasid commander Yazid ibn Mazid al-Shaybani, during the reign of Caliph Harun al-Rashid in 179 AH. Al-Walid's rebellion grew so powerful that he defeated the Caliph's armies, leaving al-Rashid with no option but to behead Yazid ibn Mazid if he did not eliminate him. In a fierce battle, the two knights clashed until al-Walid fell dead. Despite Abbasid historians' attempts to suppress Layla's poetry due to her brother's rebellion, the quality of its composition and eloquence ensured its enduring legacy as a sister to the famous elegies of al-Khansa. Listen now to the masterpieces of classical Arabic poetry, the poignant and moving al-Sayyid, without any electronic enhancements, and discover the beauty of classical Arabic and authentic heritage.
