Tu Vida en Cada Rango de la Corte Imperial China (Dinastía Qing)

You are fourteen years old when an official from the Ministry of Revenue arrives at your home with your name already written on a list. You are about to enter the most rigorous imperial consort system ever documented: eight official ranks, from Da Ying, the lowest attendant, to Huang Hou, the Empress herself. You can spend your entire life serving without the Emperor ever hearing your voice. Or you can rise, rank by rank, until you become the most powerful woman in the empire. This video explores the eleven actual levels of the Qing Dynasty consort system, officially established under Qianlong's reign in 1748: the triennial Xiunu selection from among the daughters of the Eight Standards, the bamboo tablet mechanism for the nightly selection, the invisible hierarchy between mothers of daughters and mothers of sons, and the final ascent to the rank of Empress Dowager, surpassed only by the reigning Emperor himself. This video is a fictional historical narrative recreation for educational and entertainment purposes. The protagonist is a dramatized composition illustrating a representative tour of the actual Qing consort ranking system; it does not represent a specific historical person, although the ranking system, selection mechanism, and procedures described are historically documented.
