New Delhi Mumbai Duronto Express: Major Station Skips and High Speed Action

A compilation of some of the major station skips of the 22210 New Delhi Mumbai Duronto Express. This journey was undertaken in December last year. The north Indian fog expressed itself with a fury on the first night as it took as five and a half hours to cover the 145 kilometres to Mathura. The thick fog remained right till Sawai Madhopur, after which we managed to gain some momentum and hit some decent speeds. The Kota-Ratlam stretch too was a fine run but disaster struck after Godhra due to issues with signalling and we were further delayed, reaching Vadodara only at 4 in the afternoon. The Vadodra WAP4, now in home territory, decided to show off its powers as we blazed through coastal Gujarat on an evening spree towards Mumbai. The ferocious run through the afternoon, resulting in the skipping of some major stations such as Palej, Ankleshwar, Navsari, Valsad and Vapi at blistering speeds exceeding 100 kmph and hitting 120 kmph meant that we managed to reach Mumbai by 9 in the evening, a full 5 hours behind schedule. The skips presented in this video, in the order of appearance are: 1. Mathura, Uttar Pradesh 2. Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, at 130 kmph 3. Bhawani Mandi, Rajasthan at 120-130 kmph. We overtook some WAP7 hauled NR train here but I could not identify it. Help solicited! :) 4. Shamgarh, Rajasthan: We slowed down from top speed here, much to my chagrin. 5. Nagda, Madhya Pradesh. Witness the sharp acceleration through the station as we surge from 30 kmph to around 100 kmph in a little over a minute. 6. Bamnia, Madhya Pradesh: Into the 100 kmph zone and we are hitting exactly that! 7. Meghnagar, Madhya Pradesh. 8. Dahod, Gujarat. The LP stopped here to answer the call of nature, regardless of the fact that the signal was green. 9. Godhra, Gujarat: A ridiculously slow craw through Godra. I got rather bored and switched off the video. 10. Miriayam Karjan, Gujarat: Watch out for the narrow gauge rakes here. 11. Palej, Gujarat: We are hitting 120 kmph here. 12. Bharuch, Gujarat: We cruise through this wonderful station and hop onto the bridge over Narmada. 13. Ankleshwar, Gujarat: Our acceleration is swift after the Narmada bridge and we blaze through Ankleshwar at around 105-110 kmph. 14. Surat, Gujarat: A slow, sedate skip of Surat. A huge group of passengers are waiting for the Karnavati Express. 15. Navsari, Gujarat: The Duronto is going berserk at this point and we blast through this station at 120 kmph. 16. Valsad, Gujarat: Another large major station ripped apart at 105-110 kmph. Watch the train sway and rock over the numerous points. 17. Vapi, Gujarat: Our high speed foray is not over yet! 18. Virar, Maharashtra: Entering Mumbai's suburban territory. We slow down to a more sensible pace. 19. Vasai Road, Maharashtra: It was a rather excruciating entry into Vasai, thanks to the Bikaner Kochuvelli Express, which I think was taking its own sweet time! 20. Borivalli, Mumbai 21. Andheri, Mumbai: Some parallel action with the Valsad Bandra Terminus passenger.
