In this clip from his classes on the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali, Paramahamsa Prajnananandaji discusses the “svadhaya” the Sanskrit word for study, and what that means to a yogi. First, Paramahamsaji talks about how important it is to read a little bit of any scripture or holy book that resonates with you daily. The regularity in this practice is essential. Next, he talks about how important our attitude is when we approach this practice. We should do it with love, not mechanically. Remembering it is actually God’s words to us, we must approach this practice with the attitude of love and surrender. Even if we do not understand we should continue this practice with these feelings and mental attitude. As Paramahamsaji says, “Where there is love understanding will come.” Paramahamsa Prajnananandaji is a revered Kriya Yoga master who travels the world over teaching Kriya Yoga and how to practice spirituality in daily lives. His teachings cover a broad expanse of spiritual topics which include yoga, meditation, practical spirituality and also deep metaphorical interpretation of Vedanta and many scriptures like Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutra of Sage Patanjali, Durga Saptashati, different Upanishads.
