It boasts an extensive collection of rare and niche records from both Japan and abroad. The owner, Yasuhiro Nakano, opened this shop after years of experience at Disk Union. The store’s name is inspired by the Dutch band Mecano and the European educational toy Meccano. One of SHOP MECANO’s standout features is its detailed explanation cards, which accompany every record. Nakano, who has also worked on liner notes for Japanese editions of P-MODEL and Kraftwerk, shares his deep musical knowledge and passion through these notes, creating opportunities for customers to discover new music.
