MENGOREKSI AKIDAH YANG SALAH: ALLAH DUDUK DI ATAS 'ARSY

In the Quran it is mentioned that "Allah, the Most Gracious, istawa upon the 'Arsh" (QS. Thaha [20]: 5). Many translations interpret the word "istawa" in that verse as "dwelling." In fact, that is wrong. The good news is that KBBI has corrected the meaning of the word istiwa. It no longer means sitting. But controlling. And indeed that is one of the meanings of istiwa in Arabic. In this video I try to strengthen the explanation above by referring to the book al-Asma wa as-Shifat, written by Imam Baihaqi, who is known as a great scholar in the Ahlussunnah waljama'ah School. Again, I want to remind readers, especially laypeople, not to understand the Quran only by relying on translations. If you find a verse that can be misunderstood, learn to ask the experts. The Arabs themselves do not interpret istiwa as sitting. Rationally it is impossible for God who did not begin (qadim) to be located in something that began (hadith). And textually no one says that God is sitting. That's just a misunderstanding. And we need to correct that misunderstanding.
