Setting a Navigation Destination You can search for one of the names below on your smartphone navigation app (Tmap, Kakao Navi, etc.). Recommended search terms: KBS Wonhyobong Relay Station or Daejeon Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation Wonhyobong Relay Station 🚘 Lot number address: San 5-24 or San 5-22, Sangga-ri, Deoksan-myeon, Yesan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do 2. Vehicle Access and Detailed Route (Directions) The key to vehicle access is finding the summit of ‘Hanti Pass (Haemi Pass),’ a mountain pass connecting Deoksan-myeon in Yesan-gun and Haemi-myeon in Seosan-si. Entering the Summit of Hantigogae: Use National Route 45 or similar roads to reach the crest of Hantigogae (approximately 300m above sea level). Finding the Forest Road Entrance Junction: Upon reaching the summit, you will see a signpost for the Wonhyobong Relay Station and the beginning of a cement-paved forest road leading up the mountain. Take the Relay Station Road Ascent: At this junction, confirm that the barrier is open and continue driving up the mountain path for approximately 2.5 to 3 km. Arriving at the Endpoint (Parking): After driving all the way up the steep winding road, you will encounter a barrier at the main gate of a large transmission tower (relay station) blocked by barbed wire. This is the final destination accessible by vehicle. 3. Walking to the Summit (Gayabong) After Getting Out of the Car If you look to the left of the barbed wire fence at the main gate of the relay station or around the forest road, you will see hiking ribbons (signals) hung by hikers and an entrance path with wooden stairs. If you walk up this path—along the forest trail and steep wooden stairs—for about 5 to 10 minutes (approx. 300m), you will arrive at the summit marker of Gayabong (678m) on Mt. Gaya, accompanied by a panoramic viewpoint. (Round trip takes about 15 to 20 minutes) ⚠️ Essential Driving Precautions (Very Important) Narrow road making passing impossible: The forest road leading up from Hantigogae to the relay station is barely wide enough for a single vehicle to pass. Although there are occasional passing spaces where you can pull over, if you encounter an oncoming vehicle, one car must yield on the steep mountain road by reversing, making the driving difficulty quite high. Considerable caution is required when driving large SUVs (such as the Palisade) rather than compact cars. Worst Parking Situation: Excluding the U-turn area in front of the broadcasting station's main gate, the open space only offers enough parking for 2 to 3 cars. During the daytime on weekends or during the autumn foliage and azalea seasons, spaces are often unavailable, forcing drivers to dangerously park on the shoulder of the narrow slope.
