Threads of Her: Seo-Nang ✨ Threads of Her: Seo-Nang Seattle International Dance Festival 2025 Performed by MiYoung Margolis Dance Collective Still reeling from this unforgettable experience. “Threads of Her: Seo-Nang” wasn’t just a performance—it was a prayer, a ritual, a reclaiming. In a space that pulsed with memory, femininity, and movement, we offered up our stories—woven with sweat, silence, and spirit. We were deeply honored to be invited as part of the opening night program for the 20th anniversary of Seattle International Dance Festival. To open such a major international stage with a Korean-American work grounded in ancestral ritual and womanhood was truly humbling—and unforgettable. 🌀 Why it mattered: In Korea, Seonang is a guardian spirit of the village, often feminine in nature—protective, powerful, unseen yet always present. In our version, Seo-Nang became a symbol for every woman who carries, endures, and transforms. This piece was an act of remembering and reimagining—of reclaiming heritage not as weight, but as source. For me, as a Korean-American artist building bridges across language, culture, and form, this performance was a declaration: We are not divided—we are interwoven. We don’t just inherit—we remake. We dance from legacy. We dance toward liberation.
