Milan pauses to bid farewell to Francesco Imprezzabile, the 39-year-old policeman who died on June 22nd after falling from his service motorcycle while chasing an SUV that had forced a roadblock in the Ponte Lambro area. A compact crowd gathers in front of the Church of the Madonna della Medaglia Miracolosa in Corvetto: colleagues, friends, family, and citizens. The coffin arrives to a sustained round of applause. Six colleagues from the local police force carry it. A seventh walks alongside, holding Francesco's helmet. In front of the entrance, hung between two poles, a banner with his image and a phrase that weighs more than anything else: "Don't get tired of chasing your dreams, because there are dreams that will never tire of waiting for you." Before the ceremony, the procession crossed Via Oglio, in front of the station where he served. Then he greeted his mother, Rosy, his father, Pino, his sister, Barbara, and his partner, Federica. Inside the church, there was no free space. Officials were also present: from Mayor Giuseppe Sala to Regional President Attilio Fontana, to the Commander of the Local Police, Gianluca Mirabelli, Police Commissioner Bruno Megale, and the heads of the police force. Also representing the government was Isabella Rauti, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Defense. Among those present was Rocco Savarino, brother of Nicolò, the policeman killed in 2012 in another car chase, a story that resurfaces today with all its weight.
