Powerwolf – "We Drink Your Blood" live, Oberhausen l 2022 | Rockpalast

The Saarbrücken quintet Powerwolf, fronted by singer Attila Dorn, has been thrilling the metal scene since 2003. Their concerts are true spectacles—complete with opulent makeup, costumes, and spooky pseudonyms. The band enjoys an excellent reputation as a live act and delivers great entertainment with their theatrical power/heavy metal. In 2022, Powerwolf performed at the Rudolf Weber Arena in Oberhausen, where Rockpalast recorded their concert. 💡 You can find the entire concert here: https://1.ard.de/Powerwolf_2022 🤘 The “Best Of Metal” playlist is available here:    • 🤘 Metal-Highlights   According to the band itself, Powerwolf was founded as follows: Brothers Matthew and Charles Greywolf meet their future singer at a bar while on vacation in Romania. Attila Dorn only has classical music experience at this point (he is a budding opera singer in Bucharest), but that doesn't deter the two original Powerwolves. Dorn is a stroke of luck and the ideal interpreter for the band's spiritually inspired songs, which deal with Christianity and Romanian legends in English, Latin, and German with a wink. Their albums even feature a church choir, and Falk Maria Schlegel plays the organ to match. Roel van Helden has been on drums since 2013. With their first songs, Powerwolf first went to Sweden and recorded their debut album “Return In Bloodred” (released in 2005) with Fredrik Nordström. Already here, the typical Powerwolf mixture of heavy metal, power metal, and not always entirely serious lyrics is evident. In the end, it's all entertainment—presented with a lot of heart and skill. In 2007, the band already had its own fan club, and “Lupus Dei” followed. With “Bible Of The Beast” (2009), the sound became truly orchestral and even harder. In 2011, “Blood Of The Saints” was released, featuring the sing-along anthem “We Drink Your Blood.” Now Powerwolf are finally playing in the premier league of metal. This is followed by a record deal with Napalm Records and major appearances at Wacken and Co. After “Preachers Of The Night,” “Blessed And Possessed” followed in 2015 and reached number three in the album charts. “The Sacrament Of Sin” (2018) topped the success of its predecessor and reached number 1 in the album charts in Germany. On this album, Powerwolf used bagpipes for the first time and presented their first ballad. But the call of the wild remains strong. Appropriately, album number eight is called “Call Of The Wild.” So even in their twenties, the wolves are still howling—louder than ever. 📸 Thumbnail photos: WDR/Thomas von der Heiden #powerwolf #powermetal #Rockpalast ----- 🎬 More Rockpalast: ► Rockpalast in the ARD media library: https://www.ardmediathek.de/sendung/r... ► Rockpalast website and archive: https://www.wdr.de/tv/rockpalast/ ----- 🎬 More Rockpalast: ► Rockpalast in the ARD media library: https://www.ardmediathek.de/sendung/r... ► Rockpalast website and archive: https://www.wdr.de/tv/rockpalast/
