The Beatles “Nowhere Man” Ringo Starr - Drum Cover
Ringo has said on a number of occasions that he never really learned how to play a proper drum roll. He used a technique where he would kind of dig the sticks into the head to create more of a buzz style roll. He used it to great effect but you can hear that it’s not a super clean or refined drum roll. I personally love it and think it has a ton of character. That said, it’s hard to recreate that when you’ve spent years practicing and teaching how to play “correct” drum rolls. I did my best here to make these sound less refined.
