And I say "at least" once a day because I know dog owners who repeat this word to their dogs dozens of times a day, resulting in a good 70% of their communication being based on this word alone. Even during my lessons, I notice the use of this word sometimes inappropriately with their dogs. Many owners ask me: Why doesn't my dog ​​listen to NO? Why does he stop doing what he was doing but then start again? How do I teach my dog ​​NO? Why does he listen to me at home but pay no attention if I say NO outside? These are all legitimate questions from an owner who is having difficulty managing certain behaviors in their puppy or adult dog. But the real question I encourage every owner who asks me to reflect on is: are you sure this is the solution? Are you sure that simply teaching your dog "no" is enough to improve all the behavioral aspects you think are inappropriate? I honestly think "no" is useful to teach your dog to stop him in certain situations, especially dangerous ones. But why doesn't it often work?
