How to Make a Color Changing Potion
Here is how you can make an amazing color changing potion. Here is what you will need. Potion bottle 70% Isopropyl alcohol Food coloring Mica powder Rubber cork Twine/string Additional ingredients; Super glue Crayons Glue gun glue Modpoge Opposite colors on the color wheel tend to work best when mixing the food coloring and Mica powder. Remember a little bit goes a long way. 1 to 3 drops of the food coloring should do it. You want to be able to see through the color easily. Mica powder is the same way, only add enough that you see the color Changing when stirred. It should take about 10 minutes for the Mica power to settle to see the original food coloring color. The rubber cork is important as this helps prevent the alcohol from evaporating. Making it more permanent. Also this prevents any bad interactions or corrosive effects on a wooden cork. I wouldn't advise a wooden cork with isopropyl alcohol. I used super glue to glue the rubber cork in place (permanent) Cool tip; After adding the twine wrap lightly put a small flame on the twine to get rid of any fuzzies. Be careful as isopropyl alcohol is flammable. So make sure there is no spilt alcohol and the bottle has a cork on it. Also, only put the flame on the bottle in short increments. So light it then blow it out, light it and blow it out. You don't want it to get too hot...if that makes sense. With a dedicated crafting pan mix the crayons (remove the paper cover) and the glue gun sticks on a low heat in a well ventilated area. Remove from the heat and let it cool off a little bit...until it flows like honey. Then slowly twist the neck of the bottle in the wax seal goop(be careful this is very hot)... continue to twist the bottle until the wax sets up. It will start to cool and stay in place. Then stamp it with a wax seal. If you don't have a wax seal, the backs of the handles of silverware, forks, spoons etc...tend to have great designs that leave great impressions in wax.
