The Public Prosecutor's Office requested pretrial detention for Argenis de Jesús Rodríguez Filpo, Felicia Ramírez Capellán's son-in-law, and Benyi Batista, after establishing in the request for coercive measures that the main defendant allegedly paid RD$10,000 to have the woman murdered. Ramírez Capellán's body was found partially burned and with signs of violence on July 7 in the Yabanal sector of La Vega province. According to the request for coercive measures, the medical examiner's report establishes that the preliminary cause of death was severe head trauma, in addition to physical injuries and burns on various parts of the body.
