Her answer is straightforward: "France is not doing well at all. The people are suffering. On September 10, we must not be satisfied with a day or two of strikes. We must block until this government backs down." Elected in 2022 after leading a successful 22-month strike, Rachel Keke believes her voice is still needed: "The French still tell me: your place is in the National Assembly." Because I spoke from the heart, with the experience of those who survive on 700 or 800 euros a month." She recalls the debates on increasing the minimum wage: "We proposed raising it to 1,500 euros. The right and the far right refused. I thought to myself: 'Who's dreaming? How can we vote against it when millions of people can't make ends meet?'" Her term also revealed to her the contempt of certain elected officials: "They didn't expect to see a Black woman, a former chambermaid, as a member of parliament. In committee, I was interrupted, people chattered while I was reading my text. One day, I told them: 'Be quiet if you want to hear!'" Dismissed in 2024, she founded the association D'invisible à Visible to continue the fight: "I wanted to make visible these professions that are not talked about: cleaners, garbage collectors, farmers. We go out into the field, film their daily lives, and provide them with lawyers to defend them." She describes meeting farmers in Loire-Atlantique: "Many are closing their farms. In five years, there will be no more milk, no more livestock. It's a reality." Faced with François Bayrou's plan to eliminate two paid public holidays, her appeal is clear: "Wages aren't increasing and everything is expensive, yet we still want to take two unpaid days off? It's too much. I call on workers, farmers, truck drivers, and housekeepers to come together. Unity is strength."
