Knife making - 25mm thick titanium fixed blade
THIS KNIFE IS SOLD! if you're interested in some of my other work check out my online store http://dbblades.bigcartel.com/ This is a 25mm thick chunk of titanium that I have spent a good 20-30 hours carving into a blade. This thing is damn near half a kg, and that’s after I removed a load of metal in the deep hollow grind and contours. I had a look on google and I couldn’t find another knife anywhere near this thick (and for good reason). It’s not really the most practice knife in the world but I don’t really give a damn. Thiers just something about the weight of it in the hand that just makes me chuckle like some sort of deranged super villain. Chances are good I’ll never get my hands on a piece of titanium like this again so I decided to do a nice organic shape and put a lot of time into the finishes and contours of the blade. To be honest I actually thought this might be a fairly easy build, but that was far from the truth. This whole build was an exercise in me beating my head against a brick wall and breaking my tools. I did the math and I killed 276 bucks in abrasives, drill bits and bandsaw blades to get this one done and that doesn’t even include the labour cost of the build. This was a nightmare to do for sure but now that it’s done it can go down into my baby book as my favourite blade I have built so far. If your going to the sydney knife show I'll have it on my table
