Cognitive scientist (computational linguistics, cognitive psychology, functional neuroscience, discrete mathematical science, and analytical philosophy). He holds a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University and is a Cylab adjunct fellow. He also serves as president of Dr. Tomabechi Works Inc., CEO of Cognitive Research Lab Inc., advisor to Kadokawa Haruki Corporation, visiting professor at Nankai University in China, vice president of the All Japan Qigong Masters Association, Japan representative for The Better World Foundation, a public interest corporation in the United States, Japan representative for TPI International, a US educational organization, international director of the Tendai Betsuin Temple in Hawaii, and representative director of the Japan Hypnotism Association. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts and graduating from the Department of English at Sophia University's Faculty of Foreign Studies, he joined Mitsubishi Estate. After two years there, he studied at Yale University Graduate School as a Fulbright scholarship recipient, studying under Roger Shank, known as the father of artificial intelligence. After stints at Yale's Cognitive Science Institute and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, he transferred to Carnegie Mellon University's Graduate School of Philosophy and Computational Linguistics, renowned as the world's leading computer science institution. He is the fourth person in the United States and the first Japanese to earn a Ph.D. in computational linguistics. Since returning to Japan, he has served as an assistant professor at Tokushima University, director of JustSystems Research Institute, director of its Pittsburgh Research Center, and expert member of the Information-Technology Promotion Council of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry. He is currently adapting the ability development programs "PX2" and "TPIE," which incorporate the results of American cognitive science research, for the Japanese market. He is working to promote their use in Japan as the overall manager.
