I bought a used Nardi leather steering wheel with worn and faded leather and decided to test whether inexpensive shoe polish could restore its appearance. The color improved, but the wax in the shoe polish made the steering wheel extremely slippery. Even after wiping away the excess wax, I realized this is not a safe repair method. For a steering wheel, safety always comes first. I do not recommend using shoe polish, as it could reduce grip and increase the risk of losing control while driving.
