Nottingham Forest are Magic - Student Documentary by Ruby Naylor

Twitter- @rubytnaylor My thesis/dissertation/capstone documentary is about the football club that my whole family supports, Nottingham Forest, and how deeply rooted the club is in the supporters’ lives. It aims to connect with the people of Nottingham and those who support Forest, while also being able to reach a larger, American audience who may know know the club or understand what it's like to support an English football club. You can find so many videos recounting the European Cup glory days, but the true backbone of this club deserves its moment. I did my best to capture the endless passion that these fans feel for our reds. English football culture truly is so unique and inherent in everyone’s way of life, but there is something a little special about us and the unrivaled energy and atmosphere created at the City Ground. It’s common knowledge that the City Ground is a fortress. Love us or hate us, you can’t deny the electricity that is seldom missing at home matches, not to mention the TIFOs that put every other clubs’ to shame. Through relegation battles, FFP/PSR hits, VAR controversies, and even having one of our players’ names on the Epstein list, the supporters and the City Ground are so consistent. Mull of Kintyre never wavers. Managers and players come and go, but the fans have never left and will never stop demonstrating how much this club means to us all. On this note, our desire is always to be here, you have to know how this would affect the community that Forest has worked so hard for so long to create. Renovate, rebuild, but do not move the City Ground. It would tear at the heart and soul of this club, of who we are. While I know this will never be perfect and I know there’s always going to be things I want to change, I am proud of the work and many hours that I have put into this. I hope it’s as enjoyable to watch as it was to create.
