This farm was built in 1840 and is a rare example of the 'open hall' type, where living quarters and stable are combined into one large space. This type of farm was used from the 12th to the 19th century and is characteristic of the Twente and Achterhoek regions. 🏰 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐬: At the edge of the Buurserzand lies the Harrevelderschans from the Eighty Years' War, a simple field redoubt that played a role in the fortification wars from 1568 to 1648 when the Netherlands revolted against Spain. Strategically positioned along the Buurserbeek, it served as an important trade route between Münster and Hanseatic cities like Zutphen. ☸️ 𝐎𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥: This watermill, completed in 1548, consists of a grain mill and an oil mill, each on opposite banks. After being destroyed by a flood in 1946, the mill was rebuilt in 1950. Since May 1988, it has been operational again and open to the public.
