Class 314 Farewell Tour across Glasgow and Strathclyde (18/12/2019)

On Wednesday 18th December 2019, ScotRail operated a hasty last trip to say goodbye to their old class 314 EMUs which had served Glasgow and the Strathclyde region for just over 40 years (and to raise some money for their charity partner MND Scotland). Unfortunately, due to their old age and new disability regulations coming into force in January 2020, these units are to be retired and scrapped, replaced by the brand new class 385 trains working in tandem with the existing class 318s (now the oldest working trains in Strathclyde), 320s and 380s. The tour left Central at roughly 10:15am and travelled from Glasgow to Ayr, Cumbernauld via Carstairs and, finally, Helensburgh Central before heading back to Glasgow Central Low Level at just after 7pm. It was an excellent tour and an excellent way to give these trains the best sendoff you could give them. © David Ramsay 2019. All rights reserved.
