Die Bibel zeigt eine Entwicklung im Umgang mit Gewalt: Am Anfang steht das Prinzip „Auge um Auge“, das nicht zur Rache aufruft, sondern maßlose Vergeltung begrenzt. Es sagt: Die Strafe darf nie größer sein als der Schaden. Später führt Jesus dieses Prinzip weiter und fordert, „die andere Backe hinzuhalten“ – nicht als Schwäche, sondern als bewusste Entscheidung, den Kreislauf der Gewalt zu durchbrechen. Schließlich macht er deutlich, dass Gewalt sich selbst zerstört: „Wer zum Schwert greift, wird durch das Schwert umkommen.“ Damit wird klar: Die Bibel bewegt sich von begrenzter Vergeltung über aktive Gewaltlosigkeit hin zur Einsicht, dass Gewalt am Ende immer den trifft, der sie benutzt. Ich bin eigentlich kein besonders gläubiger und frommer Mensch...Aber auch die Bibel ist Teil unserer Werte und Kultur...Und Liebe und Gerechtigkeit muss die Herrscherin über Allem sein...
